Hi, I want to layout by myself schems that I find on the net. so I started to practice.
this is my first layout and its source is:
http://www.muzique.com/schem/fuzzface.gif

the NPN version of fuzz face.
I didn't do all the wiring and the pots neither because I realy don't know how, but if you could tell my problems on the circuit itself it will be great!
thanks

R2 is shorting itself out unless there is a cut trace underneath it. Same with C1 and C3
R4 is not connected to the emitter of Q2

Tamir

#2
:) the R4 is a mistake that I didn't notice. thanks. but I am not sure I understood about the components on same strip, why is it shorting itself?

edit: here is the new shot

they would have been shorting because the ends of the component would have been touching.

A "Short" is when both ends of a single component are connected together.
Anything on vero that is positioned across 1 strip, must have a cut beneath
it on the copper side.
You need trace "cuts" here :
Bottom left of Q2 above the present open cut

C3 should be moved down one strip to connect at Q2's collector.
This point is then your output to the volume pot, pre-output jack.

ok, understood about shorts.
but why move C3 one stript to bottom?

according to the schem, Q2's top leg should be connected to R3, and the connection between R2 and R3 is what the C3 should get.
as I see it that's what happening here. corrections?  ??? :)

petemoore

You need a cut between Q1B and Q2E.
Also you need a gain pot or resistor and capacitor, between Q2E to ground.

Convention creates following, following creates convention.

My Mistake - C3 is correct as you have it  :icon_redface:
I should have looked at the schem first !!

You're almost there, but the fuzz pot is wired wrong. The wire that you've got going to c12 should be to d12 and you don't need that jumper from c10 to f10.

Tamir

I made it just because I wanted the connection closer to the top, and that's why the jumper is there, is that a mistake?
I see it is a little stupid, 'cause if I do what you told so I don't need the cut trace after Q2, do I?
