Hi all, there's lots of things I'd like to try out but don't have the parts for. I'm therefore putting together a list of parts I should have a few on hand of so I can lash together pretty much most things I want to try out

I already have lots of resistors and electrolytic and ceramic caps.

If I've left anything out or have parts selected that are so similar to each other that they could be substituted in for each other 99% of the time please let me know!

you need some more transistors:
lots of 2n5088/89 (high gain NPN)
2n5087 (high gain PNP)
2n3906 (PNP complement to 2n3904)
PNP transistors don't seem to be has common in stompboxes but they're still handy to have
also a couple of mosfets (BS170 seem to be the most common, or 2N7000)

a couple of LDRs/photocouplers

you might want to add some TL series opamps (TL072 or 071)

Some 1kohm potentiometers too in case you ever need them (though then again, you could hook up a resistor in series to bring the values down....)

and some SIL sockets, which are handy for socketing prettymuch anything (and are much less hassle to break up then a DIP socket)

and add some logic ICs as well, the CD4049 inverter (I believe the CD4069 is also good) us used in a bunch of distortion pedal designs and would be handy to have around, a CD4013 if you ever want to build an MXR Bluebox type octave down, a bunch of others are handy if you ever want to build on of those sequenced effect.

Judgeing only by what's behind some of the switches' on SB's which *I* often choose [a very subjective subject].
  ...Some Ge Transistors...
  Y.M.M.V.
Anyway, these Q's sound different, and might be worth a try...depending on everything it depends on...see article [the complete FF dissection] to chew on...re-read
  http://www.geofex.com/Article_Folders/fuzzface/fftech.htm
Also check out the Dallas Rangemaster article there at GEO...and everything else..
You may want to base your choice to Ge/not to Ge,  using: Reports show that these are sensative to what they're used with, Tube input/SSinput...Y.M.M.V.
A FF board is relatively inexpensive.
Some people like 'em, some don't use 'em...
What is/will be on both sides of your project [where it sits in the effect chain] makes a huge difference on how the project will respond.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

you should get a pack of film caps, like Mylar...100pcs of most used values cost less than 10$
