Battery and power jack together?

Hey,
I'm new to this, and I've seen different pedals that have the power supply jack with a battery plug together. I'm working on the LPB1 I got  schematics for from "zeonhost" and it only shows how to connect the battery, but not the power supply or both. I was wondering how you would do that. Thanks,

The DC Jacks come with a switch contact which connects to the outside part of the DC jack (usually positive), this usually connects to the *circuit's* +ve power terminal.  The other side of the switched contact disconnects from the outside part of the jack when the jack is inserted, this usually connects to the battery +ve.

So when the DC jack is plugged in the outer part connects the +ve of the DC jack to the +ve of the circuit ie powered from the C jack.   When the DC jack is removed the switched contact closes and connects to the battery +ve to the circuit's +ve.

Do a search on DC Jack pinouts to find which contacts are what, alternatively you can work it out with a multimeter with the DC jack inserted and removed.

Is that how you make the battery connector and the power supply connector work together, or is that just for the power supply by itself? I'm still a little confused. And...does it matter if I use a 2n5088 or a 2n5089 for my boost or do they both work?

Here's a very informative link on switching and power:

Either tranny will work - the 2N5089 is a low-noise high-gain version of the 2N5088 - try 'em both!

Cool, it makes a lot of sense with the picture diagram. I get it now. Thanks.

Okay, everything worked out fine with the wiring, but whenever I plug in my power supply, the pedal doesn't work. I plug it i on a single power supply, and with the daisy-chain I use, and when I use the daisy chain it sucks out the ower in all my other pedals. So whats the problem?

And I would like to know how to put an LED to it with a DPDT switch. It gets a little confusing when you cant tell if its on or off.

Something is shorting out.  Shot in the dark here:  what kind of DC jack do you have?  All metal or one of the black plastic types?

I have the black plastic type, I dont think anyhting is shorting because the wire I used was solid.
