More questions about the Vox Limiter

Well I think I had the same problems with Ricky with this one as I pretty much copied his schematic. It definitely needs a different voltage for the limit pot and the positive rail or it never cleans up. In my revamp of my practice amp I've scrapped my power amp which was running at 18V and am building a new one LM1875 based one I got as a kit from Altronics. That will be running at about 30V. My preamp will be running at 18V as the caps in it are rated at 25V. My question is should I step the voltage down to 25V for the limiter pot? Or will the 30 odd volts that the Amp will be running at do the same job? BTW I have two possible preamps, one is the Vox preamp with a fender brownface tone stack the other is a Proffessor Tweed, also with the brown face tonestack. I am leaning towards the Prof Tweed as it seems to clean up nicely when running at 18V although it does send the tda2003 chip I have been using into yucky distortion.

RDV

Please post if you get good results from feeding the 25v to the pot. I'm working on something else right now and can't stop.

I was following RDV's and your threads about the Vox preamp and limiter, as I'm going to replace the preamp in my homebuilt combo (which incidentally utilises an Altronics LM1875 chipamp kit - much like yours by the sound of it).
- Did you have success with 25v on the limiter pot?
- Did you go with the Vox preamp like Ricky's, or the Prof Tweed?

I'm set on using the Vox preamp - just reading the threads it looks like not using the limiter will result in a lower overall output, which is part of my current preamp's problem.

...or if you want to chime in RDV - it would be good to hear from you. I'm also considering just doing the first stage of the limiter, like I think you settled on...

No??
Maybe someone will visit the forum during the weekend....
