Hello again,

I have another question:  I have an old late seventies clone theory, with the vibraflange switch, which has a built in mains supply.  I use the unit in the UK with a voltage converter but it hums like a bastard - is there a good way of getting rid of the hum, apart from moving the PSU out of the unit?  I'm reluctant to butcher it, I like the general sound of the thing, its pretty wild over about a quarter of depth, but the hum can be annoying.  I was thinking perhaps of disconnecting the internal supply, and using a standard 18V psu, (I belive it is 18?) and buying/building  and wiring in a semi-temporary plug to the 18V supply on the board.

Cheers..
Dave

you can build a clone theory!  or buy one of the new re-issues.  Dont butcher it!  Maybe Peter Hook needs a new one!

Did they ever reissue it?  That's the thing, what's the point of having it if I can't really use it properly! Might as well sell the bugger, there must be something simple to do, that can reduce the hum, that can be taken out if I ever did sell it etc, to keep it original.

they just re-issued it.  But it's a little different than the old version.  Its in a tiny case for a start!

I see your point with the noise issue.  I'm just one of those guys that can live with the noise to keep it original.

There was a thread not long ago about a guy who had a similar problem with a broken micro synth.

if you do a search you should be able to find it and see what he did to change it over to wall wart.

Good Luck
