Converting a Tube Amp to a Pedal

I am interested in the process of doing this.  I have done it to one thing which I will probably test this weekend.  Would you just take the preamp and convert it?  If you wanted a type of booster circuit could you take the poweramp and convert it.  I understand that certain FETs like J201s and others are good for replacing a 12ax7 tube.  I would also like to know about changing the power source from a lot of volts to only 9v.  Any value changes needed.  Maybe some pictures of an amp schematic, and then the same amp's pedal emulator would help.  Any information is welcomed.
