Hi all

I'm new to this site and DIY in general, but I just finished my first project. Well, not actually finished; I haven't mounted it into an enclosure yet. Nonethless, I got my ROG ruby working no problem! Sounds pretty good with my strat, too. I'm going to finish it up this weekend! I'm pumped!

Anyways, just wanted to chime in and say thanks for the valuable resources on this site! Such an inspiration!

Now i've got everything on perfboard, soldered and mounted in an enclosure with a small 16ohm speaker. I couldn't find an 8ohm so hopefully nothing will catch on fire? It looks very ghetto, but I'm quite pleased that it actually works! Yay for me!  :D

Anyways, I'll post a pic of my monstrosity.
thanks for listening to my back-patting - I'm just happy is all.

youll be fine with a 16 ohm speaker, actually its not as hard on the amp that way...the lower the ohm rating on a speaker, the more "power" you get out of it.  so in theory itll be louder with an 8 ohm speaker.

cool, that's good to know. thanks!

do you have any noise?

I have a ruby kind amp on my protoboard, and wired as all schematic that I find it make some noise , but if I left the pin 3 open it sound clean. I don`t know why...

mine is pretty clean unless it's turned up all the way. maybe it's a ground problem? Maybe when it's in a metal case it would help. Try sticking it in a cake tin or something to test?

that wont change the sound, but it may help with the noise issue.  for the tone, the pickups have a HUGE affect on the amount of distortion..volume knob cranked and pups closest to the strings will give you more distortion, or a booster in front of the amp.
