hey guys...
i know there are a bunch of websites where you can get quality powdercoated enclosures and silkscreening.  I was just wondering if there were any of you fine folks I could give my business to instead.... are there any of you out there?

you can powdercoat all by yourself.  All you need is a device to electrostatically charge the item, and your oven.  Powdercoating bakes at 350-400 degrees F.  So get a gun and ground for 50 bucks off ebay and you're off and running.

Uh, as long as you don't plan on ever eating food prepared in that oven again!  :icon_wink:

i'd love to try my hand at powder coating, but i feel like i've already taken on so many new hobbies with me building my first stompbox (having never even used a soldering gun before), etching my own PCBs, etc, that I don't think I would ever get any sleep.  That's why I figured that there must be someone on the board who does a fantastic job, letting me concentrate on all of the guts!

Maybe it's just me but I emailed the guy at Kustompowder.net two different times and never got a response.

i also found the guy at pedalpartsplus.com.   i called him and he was a very nice guy.  I was just curious to see if any of you guys specialized in this, because i think you're all very nice people who know your stuff

Joe at Kustom Powder has done a bunch of stuff for me in the past.  He's been laid up for a bit - recovering from surgery on his hand.  I've since found someone new and am very excited to get my latest batch back.

The Midkiffs at PPP are great guys... I've used a couple of their powdercoated boxes and they are great.

Not to run the guy down but I too contacted Kustompowder and never heard back.  I did send some enclosure once before and I was very happy with the way they turned out but subsequent e-mails have gone unanswered.  Now I just paint them with what markm calls the "cheapest flat black paint I can find" (or words that effect), clear coat them and get busy stomping.

Sorry, I guess I've gotten a little outside the scope of your question.

If anyone is located within driving distance of Toledo Ohio (live) or Petersburg Michigan (work) I can help you out.
We have a 10' x 12' x 20' booth at work and a limited color choice.  If you bring it to me and pick it up I will powdercoat it for you.  I'm not shipping anything though.

Maybe you should consider etching an enclosure,
If you have PNP and Ferric Chloride, your 1/2 way there.
Just a thought although the powder coat thing is interesting.

Yeah, maybe he's just totally out of the loop...when I emailed him (it's been months...) I was offering to trade him and get him some good pics of his stuff to improve his website and get him some buisness. Plus I just wanted to say hey and get some boxes...

I definitely plan on etching enclosures (hopefully i'll have a bit more luck this time around), but i also really like the look of powdercoated and screened enclosures as well.  Just keeping my options open :)
