Hey guys i've been thinking about building an EA Tremolo as indicated in another thread here on the forum but I had a question;

In the circuit theres an LED that supposedly blinks along with the tremolo sound. When I switch to bypass will it turn off the LED altogether? I'd like to use it as a status indicator if possible.

Thanks a lot

Which layout are you building from?

MetalUpYerEye

The PCB layout from ROG (www.runoffgroove.com) by Pablo De Luca.

I built the ROG version of the EA Tremolo.  If you want to use the blinking LED as an on/off indicator as well, you need to use one pole of the 3PDT switch to break the connection of the LED (either end of the LED).  If you look at some of the normal 3PDT wiring diagrams, the only difference here is that the -LED connects to a tranny instead of ground.

So if you wire it up this way, the LED will turn off when the pedal is bypassed; and it will blink when the pedal is in use.

What will it do if I just wire it normally? Will the LED continue to blink or stay on even in bypass mode?

Yeah it keeps flashing in bypass mode, mine does.
It is easy enough to use the flashing led as the on/off indicator.

Oh poop.

I was going to try and save $5 by using a dpdt stomp instead of a 3pdt.

I find it quite useful to have the LED running in bypass mode, so I can check that the speed is right.
