OK; I've build a Craig Anderton compressor. It all works great until I use it for a while. Then the signal falls away and all I get is a high pitched sound. No signal anymore. Time is approx 2 to 3 minutes.

I checked the wiring and such, and all is good. I used a MAX1044 chip for the + and -9V and I guess here is the problem as it reads 9V at the +9V but only 0.65V at the -9V...........

I guess the chip is broken..... but when I stop for a while (long time) I don't have the issues anymore and it works for a time......

Any thoughts?

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Yes, I had the same thought, but all caps are oriented in the right way........

Maybe I should isolate the ground of the charge-pump from the rest of the grounds.........
