Im having some doubts about my Wah pedal....So, today a firend of mine came over and he brought over the Bluesbreaker Pedal i made for him a while back. I plugged it in and honestly, it has got to be the best overdrive pedal ive ever played. The signal chian was Strat > BB > Amp. But after i plugged in my 535Q wah pedal it completly killed my "tone". (Strat > Wah > BB > Amp.) It became so bright and distorted when i wa splaying that i had to readjust my settings. I wouldnt mind adjusting stuff, but it complely lost its sweetness. it jsut didnt feel the same. I've hear people true bypassing wah's but i never knew that the 535Q also had a really bad buffer.

Anyone know how to bypass the buffer? Or know why this is happening?

So as of today, i am officially on the lookout for a better wah.

Don't be too quick to blame it on the wah pedal. A wah pedal is only going to process whatever it receives on the input. It might be that the overdrive pedal is something of a treble booster - then you stick your wah on there - it's not going to sound pretty.

You will want to scroll down til you see "instructions - eliminating input buffer".

hi,

some older 535q has ture bypass. the newer ones not. they has an OPamp in- and output buffer, not with a darlington-Transistor like the normal cryBabys.  and the newer 535q are built with SMD- components. so, removing the buffer is not so easy.

i would look for a new wah, before you destroy yours ;D

From that link I posted above you can buy a tricked out wah circuit board that is a drop in replacement for the board in your GCB95.  I know it's not DIY, but those things look really nice, and cost about what another crybaby or a vox would cost.

A much simpler and flexible solution might be to use a true-bypass loop pedal. I use a newer 535Q, and use it in a bypass loop to avoid the problem you describe.

Yeah, that's also an idea. Just make a true bypass box as bwanasonic suggests.

Or readjust the settings on the BB pedal
Passive sucks.
