Hi! I am new! Not exactly a stompbox question, but a Load Box w/ a line out?

Hi! I have been lurking here for sometime and finally have something that I haven`t found necessarily through searches.
I would like to build a load box with a line out (not speaker compensated, line level to be used for "reamping") and have come up with something like this (compiled from a couple of different circuits available online, kind of a combination of Ted Weber and Randall Aiken).
Sorry for the really crappy MSPaint, just wanted to do something quick :D

I am mainly looking for feedback regarding the line out.  I am not certain if I will need to use higher power handiling components for it or not?  I also want the signal for that to be as unaltered as possible as I will be using a studio monitor reference power amp to reamplify the signal for low volume playing/recording.

Just looking for any input anybody out there might have.  I am going to be cross posting this a couple of different places as I just want to get as much feedback as possible.
As far as I can tell, this will give me 8 ohm, 200 watt peak power handiling.  Mainly interested in comments/suggestions on the line out.
As far as the high power resistors, I was thinking something like these: http://www.mouser.com/search/ProductDetail.aspx?R=RH0508R000FC02virtualkey61300000virtualkey71-RH50-8.0

Anyways, thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome. I did similar thing, just I added light buld attenuator.

It's based on Herzog line out and works pretty well. 8ohm resistor is dummy load, when speaker is connected it's switched off. It is not the best way to do line out...you have high power signal, when it's significantly reduced it will loose some highs, but it's not too much.

As drawn, it won't work.

You need a wire from the ground on the input jack to the ground on the output jack. That will at least get you some output.

Once you do that, you will get an adjustable signal at the output jack that can be varied in volume with the pot. This signal will be a scaled-down replica of the speaker signal. It will not sound like it would through any particular speaker, because the speaker itself modifies what the signal sounds like by impressing its own set of frequency responses and rolloffs, including how it interacts acoustically with the enclosure it's in.

But you will get a signal that reflects the amp's electrical output. That may be enough.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Hi, and thanks for the responses!  So, I do need to tie a ground wire between the speaker input and the line out?  That is easy enough.

The purpose of the line out is that I am going to take the signal from my amp and actually reamp it through a reference power amp and into my speaker cabinet, as a way of a third stage master volume.  I have heard a number of setups like this (well, I suppose the most famous is van Halen's "brown sound") and prefer it over straight attenuation as it seems to maintain the most amount of characteristics inherent to the amp.

Thanks for the replies an dhelp so far!
