Resistor tape goo

  For those who may not have noticed...
  Resistor roll tape goo is on the ends of the resistor leads.
  I clip that 1/4''~ of the lead end off. If I really need that length, I use cotton and roll the goo into the fabric [on good days].
  I don't know if the goo is the same as rosin, I'm certain it is antagonistic to achieving passable solder joints.

Normally just rolls off with fingers, or burn it off with a lighter !
Some of my old "NOS" stuff has very tarnished pins/ leads, so some wire wool
come in handy.

I scrape the leads of almost everything I solder using a stanley knife - just force of habit really.
