Clear coat yellow?

Hey all.

My mate and I are in the process of van halenising a crap guitar which was sitting behind the lounge. We've taped it and painted 6 or 7 layers of matt white and peeled the tape off, looks great but when I went to clearcoat it last night, (luckily I tested it in the vibrato spring cavity first), It was yellow?
It didnt say on the can that it was a wood stainer but it seemed it was.

So the question is; Is there any truly clear coat spray on laquer? If so, what brands/stores are good for this in Australia

nitro based lacquer tends to be yellow and becomes more and more yellow over time. I don't think you'll find *true* clear coat, but I suggest you to try with polyurethane (2 component) varnish..

Deft brand lacquer is pretty clear, and isn't supposed to yellow over time like other lacquers.

Yep, that has been my experience. Polyurethane, OTOH, really turns yellow when you coat something that's white. Pretty disappointing.
