Does anyone know where to source these from?   Basically looking for the same pots Zac(zvex) uses in his stuff.  These are great, and much less expensive than the usual panel mount.  I've tried the usual places, with no luck so far.

Many thanks

I'm not sure if they're what you're looking for, but ratshack has a potientiometer pack that's got a lot of strange-looking pots in it, as well as a bunch of trimmers. They might be what you're looking for  :icon_confused:

I think Mr Vex has noted that you can find them on Mouser (or at least on of the other large online component stores)
I think they're made by CTS?

I've never seen them for less $ then the usual 16mm alpha pots.
Most shops that stock them sell them for 3,50 and up each.
It's supposed to sound that way.

i bought one of them to see how they were, the 9mm are not panel mounted, they are pcb mount. the 11mm you can get panel and pcb mount so you can mount your board with the pot.

Only problem is that they are only available in the most comoon resistances. so you'd have to modify your layouts to accomidate.

Yep.  These are the ones I saw, but no larger resistance than 100K for pcb with screw for panel mount.  I think this is a very clean way of mounting your pcb in the box.

I've sent some notes to suppliers to get minimums.  If anyone is interested, let me know how many you'd like.  If there is enough demand, maybe it makes sense to place a bulk order.

Zachary Vex uses mouser part number: 311-1902F-"value"
Those are the ones in the upper left corner on the mouser page found linked a few posts back.
It's supposed to sound that way.

The 12mm width PCB mount pots I use are called "snap-in" and are made by Alps (I once bought some inferior mainland China copies.. had to scrap them). The minimum is usually 2,000 pieces, if you are ordering be sure you specify EXACTLY what shaft length & knob fitting you want, also whether you want it bushed or not. A lot of variations available....
