rattle crow problems

hi,
i built the rattle crow on perfboard following the layout made by Dan N

the soldering worked fine.

today i tryed the pedal for the first time, bypass is ok, but wenn i turn it on i got like a distortion sound and a loud hiss over the sound.
it doesn't do the enveloppe filter sound it should do!

what could it be?

Worked for me. Double check the diodes against the schematic. The diode connected to the transistor should be K to base. The other should be A to ground. I don't think the orientation is clear on the parts layout.

I don't have one of these on hand. Isn't the envelope pretty much the speed of the rattle?

What exactly is this? It looks very interestin. It looks like it might be an envelope controlled tremolo? Is there a schematic somewhere?

ahhhhhhhnow i found why it doesn't work..... isn't this diode draw in the wrong position?

for diode i used 1n4148, and transistor is a 2n3407

Glad you got it working! I fixed the diodes on the layout.

there is another version of this fx, modded by moosapotamus, it's the "Drity Bird", it got some switches added, but i decided to build it following the original schem, 'cause i liked the better how the original sounded.

The rattle crow is an envelope filter with a purposely underfiltered envelope detector. It's a noisemaker kind of effect. I breadboarded it a few yrs ago and it amused me for about 5 minutes.
