Has anyone found DC jacks like the one pictured below in colors other than black? Any help would be greatly appreciated and yes, I swiped the pic from Smallbear's site. Hope you don't mind Steve.

They're plastic, just paint them!

I thought about that but I was worried about the durability of the paint.  :icon_neutral:

Always a good worry, but there are now paints especially intended for painting on plastics. It's not going to be perfect, but it's better than writing to a manufacturer who makes 10 million (not a typo!) of these molded parts a month and asking them to make them in colors for you.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I noticed on a couple of forums where people are painting plastic parts, they reccomend using vinyl dye, as is doesn't chip off like regular spray paint. I think it may be possible to use it with stuff like these jacks?

All Dye is transparent though isn't it. Clear over black is still black. I don't know about vynil dyes though...
Black goes with everything...

You should be careful with paints

make sure you plug a scrap plug into it when you paint so as not to paint the contacts!

paint markers work really well on plastic.  really durable too.  all colors, couple bucks at any wal-mart, target, etc.

Black is Black.
It cannot be dyed.
White however, that would work fine!
Don't know about the paints but, I think Krylon makes special Vinyl/Plastic paint that sticks very well.

It's called Krylon "Fusion".  I've used it to paint knobs and it work's really well.  It basically melts itself onto the plastic so it doesn't flake off or rub off at all.  I painted the knobs on an amp about 2 years ago (they were black, I painted them white - 2 coats) and they still look pristine.

Back in The Day, with analog computers, the thing was to use colored washers.
Unless you have jacks very close together, putting color on a washer (or around the hole where the socket is, if it is only PCB mounted) will work.
That's a good tip on the Krylon Fusion, though.. going to look out for it. There are a lot of different plastics though.. not sure if it will work for all..
