NPN Transistor question

I'm working on a veroboard tubescreamer and I'm just wondering for the NPN Transistors - can I use any?  I'm very new - but it seems like there are specific voltage requirements for transistors used in some circuits - namely fuzz pedals - which then need to be biased.  I've been looking at the various in specs on Mouser and I'm just wondering if the tubescreamer circuit needs any particular voltages - and therefore specific NPN Transistors - or if any old NPN will do the job.

Thanks

Prettymuch any general purpose NPN transistor will work in the tubescreamer circuit without too much trouble. I think I used 2n3904s in my one but you can easily use the higher 2n5088s or whatever else you may have at hand.
