I finally got a new DMM (my last one met a grizzly fate).  I decided to get a pretty decent one, because my last one didn't work so well.  This new one has a socket on it that you can plug a transistor into.  Does anyone else have this?  Is this used for matching transistors?

hfe tester...not reliable for germanium transistors, jfets, mosfets, etc...BUT ...GREAT for testing silicon transistors....need to find a specific hfe sili trans ? use this....

you'll have to turn the MM dial to "hfe" to get the readings...and make sure the transistors are seated properly in the socket....

also useful when trying to figure out if an "unknown" transistor is PNP or NPN....
