Hello all!

My friend recently got a old shredmaster which works fine, but seems to be lacking a lot of gain or "shred" if you will. It sounds more like an overdrive and doesnt even get near dirty until around 3 oclock. Is it the pot? Could dirt in it do this?

Is the pot a 100k? Lin or Log? Just trying to make sure his pedal is working or bung. Thanks!!!

whoah whoah..

is shred REALLY that specific?

i thought it was a vague term used for showing off the same abilities everyone else is doing...

hmm...  :D

well, the TONE was more important than the AMOUNT OF DISTORTION, in getting that "modern" marshall crunch.

if youve been juicing around with a solid state distortion on full blast all your life, typically youd have low expectations of the shredmaster.

BUT! there may in fact be a problem with it, if its lacking in sustain, perhaps failure to equalize correctly...

try running an overdrive before it...for an extra push.

:)
no longer the battle of midway...(i left that band)...

i hate signatures with gear lists/crap for sale....

i am a wah pervert...ask away...

I'm guessing there's maybe nothing wrong with it, the knobs include guitar, and depending on pickpup output, it may seem to lack 'shred'.

If there's a dead spot on that pot right around full gain, but if it's adjust gain and goes to fully CW doing so, dirty pot isn't it'.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Yours sounds like mine. Not really shred at all, & sort of why I like it. :icon_wink: I use it with the gain between 1 & 3 o'clock, & it's like an overdriven amp. That works well in conjuction with fuzzes & other OD pedals if I want more hair.

The Shredmaster is a flexible, high gain OD/dist. pedal, I think they called it Shredmaster only for marketing purpose.
You won't get those neo-, or classical shred sounds out of this box. A 20$ H&K Warp Factor and some others  "shred" way more.

I never got Marshall's pedal names.  I thought a Drivemaster might be a lower gain version of the Guv'nor--wrong!
