IC substitution?

So I'm building a Muff Fuzz     http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album17/EH_MUFF_FUZZ
and I was unable to get a "correct" JRC4558. I ended up with Mouser's substitution- KA4558S
I figured no big deal...just different packaging. But wait....this thing has 9 pins!! Can I still use it?? What do I do?
Also, I notice there are 2 "Muff Fuzz" layouyts (here is the other one-   http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album17/EH_MUFF_FUZZ_VERO )

What is the real difference between them??
Thanks!
Chris

Here's the datasheet:
http://www.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/pdf/53210/FAIRCHILD/KA4558.html

KA4558 has an extra Vcc pin.
You can use it but you'd need to adjust the vero layout.

The only difference as far as I can see is that the EH_MUFF_FUZZ_VERO has a 1MEG input resistor.

Didnt mean to hijack the thread. I want to build the DOD YJM (malmsteen signature) distortion. It uses a 4558 op-amp. I want to use JRC4558. Can you guys suggest me some other substitutes just in case i dont find the one ive mentioned?

In the place of the opamps that have been metioned you can use prettymuch any dual opamp

any type of the various 4558s
TL072 / 062/ 082 (one is low power, one is low noise, can't remember)
LM358
NE5532
OPA2134PA (if you want to spend $ on audiophile quality stuff, overkill for a distortion pedal :P)
LM1458 (I think this is basically a dual version of the LM741 which was used is the original DOD overdrives and MXR distortions)

read that datasheets when looking at substitutions
and pay attention the the letters have the name of part, so you get right DIP8 package and you don't end up buying surface mount components instead. That 9 pin SIP KA4558S is still useable, you'd just have to change the layout for it
