Hi ! I have just finished building the matchless hotbox pedal http://fikri_ilyas.blogs.friendster.com/its_a_musical_techthing_/2006/09/the_matchless_h.html. The distortion channel is great, but i want to do something with the clean channel. I want to reduce the mids and also boost the highs. I need a fixed circuit that can do mid cut and hi boost but without the need of a pot. Can you suggest me something ?

Thanks

since you're happy with the OD channel it's gonna be hard to mod the 1st stage for better cleans without affecting the OD tone.

you could put a tonestack in there using trimmer pots and set them to where they sound best (to you) but then you're gonna loose a fair bit of signal (as you will with any filter).

for more top end you could try upping the 250k clean channel volume pot to 500k.

you can put some kind of tone filter after switch so it won't affect OD channel

Thanks MetalGod, Bancika !

I'm planning to use IRF820 as another stage after the first tube stage in the clean channel. What do you guys think ?

I used an IRF820 in my high-gain amp - I was half a triode short so I just used the IRF820 for the CF, sounds great.

I would personally put a Fender type tonestack in the clean channel and see how much gain you actually loose then put a stage after it if needed.

Yes, that would be great !   :D
Thanks MetalGod, I'll give it a try
