Power jack only - remove the battery clip or do something else?

If I want to make a pedal with only a power jack (no battery) is it as simple as (option 1) eliminating the battery clip from the circuit? Or do I (option 2) have to put a wire from the ring of the input jack to the place on the power jack where I'd normally attach the + side of the battery clip?

option 1 seems to make sense if looking at beavis' offboard wiring diagram:

but option 2 seems like it's POSSIBLY the solution if I look at a generic wiring diagram from ggg such as for this filter circuit

(the ggg can be seen at this link: http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/pdf/ggg_ef440_lo.pdf)

Or do I have to do something else?

just don't include it. the terminal where the battery clip used to go gets completely switched out when the jack is in use anyway.

I build pedals w/o batteries all the time.  Just leave out the battery snap, and run the 9V wire from the power jack to the 9V connection on the board, and run the ground wire to where ever you are running your grounds.  (I usually just run a short jumper to the output jack since that's nearby.)  All the jazz with the input jack is only if you want to disconnect power when you don't have an input.  Which doesn't really matter as much if your power is coming from the wall as opposed to a battery that will eventually run out.

Just remember to connect the power jack breaker to the 9v for circuit, look inside the power jack
and it's the connection next to the small metal "push sleeve" metal connection inside.
