Just recently finished this 4FX pedal.
It has:

  • Dual channel selection by the one foot switch
  • Each effect can be switched to 0,1 or 2 channels
  • Distortion
  • Phase Shift
  • Tremolo
  • Delay

There was zero remaining space left for anything. The boards didn't need securing because they are squeezed up against a mass of internal wiring. Unfortunately, this meant only external power. Maybe Ill find a tiny 9V rechargeable or something one day.

What is the best/clearest way of labelling the knobs and switches? I was thinking painting with a fine brush, but Id rather the letters look printed.
Thanks, RD205

that looks awesome! the paint job is cool and if that's just about all that you will be carrying around then it's a great idea! plug in and go. (:
you could always make a little external box with a 9 volt batery, or even two in parallel so that it lasts longer. then you could put a display light on the box and a kill switch so it doesn't suck your power during breaks at rehersal etc.

since you've got that cool grungy/home paint finish i don't think it would hurt it to use a fine marker by hand then spray it with clear. you don't want anything that will rub off.

BUT, i'd probably try the tshirt transfer idea then clear a few times over the top.

i'd love to see some pics of the result :d

Yeah, I thought of a battery pack. Probably will slap one together with AA rechargeables or something, now you mention it. Got it powered by one of those tiny switchmode power supplies tho, so its not that clumsy.
Believe it or not, Id doubtful be able to even fit a light into the box! I had to squish the back on as hard as I could to get it all in.
Marker probably sounds the way to go.

Processaurus

Woah.  Thats really intense, some kind of record for stuffing into the 1590BB.  I've done that too, where the back doesn't quite fit on and its so late I just crank that mother down and forget about it.  Van Halen paint too, heh.  Beware clearcoating over sharpie and other permanant markers with some clearcoats, its alchohol based and if the clearcoat has any alchohol in it it will run.  Definitely test it on the back or something else.  Paint pens are an alternative too. You should just scratch the letters in with your switchblade anyway though. :icon_wink:

Tell us more, tell us more, hows it work, whats in there, hows the routing arranged?

If you're out of space for a light, maybe you could stick on the front of the box, facing the player?

RaceDriver205

K, ill do some samples and a diagram of the routing and post them at some stage.

Where does one get a 'paint pen'?

An art supply store will have paint pens and probably a bunch of other stuff that will get the creative juices flowing.  At the very least they're available at the grocery or big box type store (walmart, etc.) but will only have a very limited selection.  I'd love to see the guts... nice work.

OK, I took my time, but heres a look under the hood:
