Hi there!

I am new here but I am already very interested in building and modding effects. I'd like to start with something easy and think the "hi cut mod" may be a good place to start. I have a dd3 which I like but I think it may be better with a more "analog feel"... As far as I concern the "hi cut mod" is as easy as solding a 0.1uF cap across legs 1 and 2 in the feedback pot. My idea is to install a 1p3t mini-swtich to choose from 3 different sounds. Two diferent value caps in positions 1 and 3 and the original tone in position 2.

I'd like to hear your recomentations about the cap values I could choose for this mod. It seems that 0.1uF is a must for one positions. Forum member tommy.genes spokes about the effect of a 0.22uF cap as "a good tone but few repeats" so it may a good candidate too. I think It may good to have an "analog option" and a "extreme analog option"  :icon_lol: :icon_lol:

What do you think?

Thanks!

There is no "best" value there, merely a value that sounds good to your ears.  Just keep in mind that a big part of what lets you differentiate the delay from the original is the midrange and treble content.  That's also a big part of what allows a repeat to be audible.  If one takes out too much mids and highs then the repeats will appear to die out too quickly.  So, ideally, you want something that takes away some of the highs, but leaves enough that there is still something to take away after a repeat or two.

Just did the mod yesterday...

I put two 0.022 uF in parrallel on the level pot. (didnt have any other closer values)

tried it on the feedback pot but i think it took to much signal.. on the level pot it only takes the same amount on every repeat.

I wired it with a switch so that i can switch from stock to highcut :)

Does anyone know how to do the hi cut mod to the DD6 ? I know It's not loke the DD3 mod ...
It's so necessary for the DD6  :-\
