I bought the parts to build the stephan moeller AC30 simulator, but when I got home I realised that the 4,4uf cap in the schematic was non polarised.
Can I use a polarised one in place of the non polarised?
The 2,2 uf  I could find are expensive and for high voltages.
Cheers

i look at the diy faq, top left corner of this screen, and here what i found...

Capacitors - Can I put a non polarized capacitor in place of an electrolytic (one that has plus and minus signs)?

Yes you can. It's more troublesome to do the other way - to put an electrolytic in place of a normal capacitor since you have to orient the capacitor the correct way or bad things could happen. Don't do this on high power circuits though. For most 9V stompboxes, this should be fine. How do you know which way to orient the polarized cap? The connection point with the larger voltage faces the positive side of the cap. (Use your meter)
hope it help you...

Sometimes cap positions expose the cap to +/- voltages, in which case non polarized or BP caps will withstand the conditions.
  ...and can be made...
taking two polarized electrolytics of 2.2uf, and connecting them parallel to make a BP 4.4uf cap...made to fit is another matter..
