I recently decided that I wanted to get the mosfet mod a try- its the diagram Dano12 posted recently showing different combinations of switching diodes and mosfets. I went ahead it did the dpdt switch with the 2 leds and on the other end i have the mosfets/germ diodes(i bought from Aron's store) and it sounds really cool! Its almost kinda hard to explain except that it feels compressed and has what i can only decribe as a delayed clipping. Obviously the leds and the mosfets sound different but to a certain degree the both have what I just described only more so with the mosfets. If i cant figure this one out than it wont bee a biggie since it sounds cool/different as is.

Does anyone know how/why/ where this compressed odd clipping comes from? Or is this just the nature of the beast?

It is all magic :)

Search for MOSFET Clippers and you'll find several threads that talk about this in detail.

As to how the electrical proprerties of MOSFETs translate into tone, well that part still is magic.
