Ok first thing I've used the search function and couldn't find anything specific.

Built a Big Muff clone And it plays great

BUT.....  If I play chords say an E Major after the chord sounds there will be a slight and quite slow modulation like an oscillation of the sound it actually quite pleasing to the ears, The problem is If I go up in pitch and play higher strings Say play an A Minor so some higher notes are getting playes that same modulation is allot faster.  Its like it gets quicker the higher the sound but its not not nice and warm and creamy its harsh and plain ruins whats a lovely sound.  The muff is known to sound great with chords so I figure something is a miss.  I could do with some suggestions as I cant think of anything  Cheers

I think what you're describing is the effect of equal temparment and a guitars intonation when you're playing chords, some of the higher harmonics from the individual notes don't match up perfectly and you get that pulsing sound (you may notice that if you bend one of the notes just slightly it changes), its just that much more apparent with distortion.

Some of them sound just awful on chords! Down below it says ya built the ram's head version...  did you try any mods yet? There are several versions. Thing is, they all sound different(even within the same version), so you might have to monkey with cap and resistor values to get what you're looking for. Search for tonestack and Yun mods, you oughtta get a pile of info.

Have you checked the intonation on your guitar?
I am not responsible for your imagination.

I think the pulsing sound idea could be pretty close to the money on this one.  As tone wise its good I've had a lok at the tone stack calculator and messed with different values I love where its at right now.  I may have a fiddle with it and possibly change the value of the caps C5 & C8 if looking at the GGG schem (not the schem I used but its all the same rougly) I am thinking that may mellow out the distoriton a little and possibly mess with the diodes, as its definately introducing other harmonics into the sound which may possibly be adding to the pulsing description.  huh I dont know.  Will let you know how I get on
