Damnit, nothing I do works on the first try anymore.  Ive had a bad run lately.

R5=CHANGED TO 1.2K (8.63/8.62) THIS ONE COMES OFF THE +9V AND IT SEEMS THAT IT SHOULD KILL A LOT MORE VOLTAGE THAN THAT.

Dont worry about your bad run.  I had that once, not too long ago.  It turns out good because from that you gain a lot of debugging experience.

agreed.  something is wrong in "ground land".  A good clue is the 7.46 on Q1 emitter ... when it is supposed to be tied directly to ground.
