FINALLY! i built another working circuit. this thing is IMPRESSIVE! very loud boost, even at only halfway up! when it tops out it is a little gritty, but there is no way i'd ever be able to pump this thing up to full volume. here are some shots, i used a spare nicked-up 1590B to house it temporarily. the guts are probably the cleanest i've arranged! i guess when you take your time....

LED is that bright even with a 2.2k on it! one of my new batch of the brightest frickin' LED's i've ever seen.
