Any ideas for a keyboard sustain pedal?

I accidentally ordered two sustain pedals for my keyboard. Since it was so cheap, its not really worth shipping it back. Does anyone have any suggestions on things I could use it for? I was thinking of trying to figure out a way to use it as some kind of expression pedal for a guitar effect even though it is just a momentary on or off switch. I can either figure out an interesting use for it or continue to let it gather dust in my room.

Got a zoom or a pod? just plug into the expression jack and instant switching between banks...

My 'sustain' pedal is a momentary on SPST switch, I guess yours is too. Although it 'could' be used for...anything an spst switch could be used for to alter a circuit [changing R or Cap or Diode values, etc.], but long cables running the signal path make this application less than a desirable option for noise reasons.
Jfet or CMOS switching circuits could be used, the actual tripswitch being a small part of fascilitating function from such a switching scheme.

Any digital (or other) effect that uses a simple momentary switch for say effect on/off could have a socket added so your sustain pedal is in parallel when plugged in. (you would have to hit the sustain quickly to toggle the state rather than leave your foot down like when you are sustaining, though).

i'd buy one from you.  that is, if it ended up cheaper than ordering one.  let me know if you're interested.

if not, i think some sort of stuttering thing would be neat since it is probably momentary.  just to connect/disconnect the signal to ground.

if you have a 4 button line 6 pedal you can put a 10K resistor across the tip and sleeve, and use it to momentarily go to another set of parameters by plugging into the expression pedal jack.  I did that (not with something as nice as a sustain pedal though), its a super fun accessory.

It might be cool to use to momentarily turn up the gain on a distortion pedal, for super feedback, if you're the type.  Or change volume slightly in a clean boost, to be able to have a few notes or run be louder than normal, or if you go back and forth between strumming and picking and have a problem with the picking dissappearing in the mix.

1 paint stick, cut in half.
a contact/with wire mounted near the end of each half,
Stacked, so the two contacts are facing each other.
Shim put in the middle so as to adjust how far away the contacts are, 1/8'' or so.
The two 'long wires connect to 1/4'' plug.
About 1/2 of the switch assembly gets a housing to keep it better in place for stepping on, but can just lay or be taped right on the floor.
Stepping on the stick stack closes the contacts between the sticks.
Make a row of them and connect them to oscillators for a foot keyboard.
One could use aluminum bottom stick, and a carbon fiber top stick, enclosed, for a more high tech switch.
Momentary SPST is easy to make.

I'm using one as a tap tempo pedal for my Boss DD-20. It works with the PH-3 as well, and may work with a DD-5.

I was about to order parts to put one together when I remembered that the keyboard player had thrown one in the trash when it quit working right (of coarse I snagged it for the parts bin). Opened it up and the only problem was a dirty switch... free tap tempo for me :)
