I built the Brian May Treble Booster...

After my last post (thank you everybody who replied, you were all more than helpful!) I built the Brian May Treble Booster. 

I used a BC182L measuring approximately 330 hfe. 

I left in the 1k resistor and used a 10k pot for the collector resistor instead of the 6.8k resistor.

I was a bit nervous when the collector measured 8 volts with a 8.89 volt battery...Makes me wonder how it would have been with the 6.8k resistor. 

However, it fired up first try and sounded really good. 

I found the boost to be pleasant and the treble definitely cut through a bit.  However, the low end didn't seem as attenuated (for better or for worse) as with the Rangemaster. 

I was also pleased at how little the pot crackled.  I understand that due to DC voltages being on the pot, it will crackle a bit.  I expected a lot more noise than it actually produced though. 

As for hiss or hum, no hum, and about the same amount of hiss as my Rangemaster.  Nothing ridiculous.
