Anybody else anxiously waiting for the 4PDT stomp switch to be available?

I keep posting this, but no one believes me.  This is the same switch pictured on the 1st page of this thread, it's $25 at Mouser.  http://www.mouser.com/index.cfm?handler=displayproduct&lstdispproductid=321501   

I actually have about a half dozen or so of those that I bought surplus somewhere.  They "work" but will not likely stand up to gig use unless some structure is built up around it to protect it.  The shaft that plunges down is simply too slender to stand up to boot-wearing humans over 80lbs. At $25 a pop that's a pretty big cost for what essentially amounts to a consumable that has to be regularly replaced.  The Knitter switches are a bargain by comparison.  At least there you buy ONE and it ought to last a while.

There ARE 4PDT toggle switches (got a couple of those too), which ought to cost much less than stomp switches.  If what needs to be switched does not need to be foot-actuated, that's a good alternative, but sometimes there IS no substitute for switching something with your foot while your hands are busy.

Just got off the phone with Cliff USA. Apparently the 4PDT was scrapped and a stomp-worthy 6PDT is now available. I have some samples coming. I'll post pics when they get here.

Cliff components showed me at NAMM what they said was their only sample of an Italian-made, truly stompable 4PDT. I have not since then been able to get a delivery date, but I do call every so often and ask. You will know as soon as I do.

A 4PDT will do A-then-B/B-then-A switching, right?  So this will let people make "flip" loop selector boxes.  I.E., the user can plug what they want into loop A and what they want into loop B, then reverse the order of the two loops.

I just checked - Mouser sells DPDT low signal NEC latching relays for about $2.50 to $3 each, and also sells an Omron DPDT latching 9Vdc (!) relay for $3.96.

Two of these make for a neat 4PDT switch for under $8.00, so you get $4.50 to spend on whatever style of momentary or fixed stomp switch you like to be the foot actuator. You also get to put your signal switching on the PCB or perfboard and not run a dozen signal wires to/from the 4PDT switch.  4PDT and 6PDT relays exist, but the PCB style duals are small enough to be almost unnoticeable on the boards.

Just a thought.
