What sort of comments are you looking for? An opinion of the sound clips? A review from a kit purchaser? Information on how to make a work-alike without purchasing the kit?

I don't think you can go wrong purchasing kits from OLC. The difference is Mark, the fellow who runs it. He's a great guy and gives great customer service.

I see a "kit" but not a DIY schem/layout so what do you mean ??

Someone else I know came up with a SLO emu, which I built, and I like the sound of the Dr. Boogey a lot more; that's not to say that his SLO was bad, it's just that it didn't really have its own sound. The Dr. Boogey is stuff of legend; with the right pickups (not too weak), it kills the Boss Metal Zone in terms of tone and usability. I've had two Metal Zones in my time and they both had a very brittle high-end.

The actual SLO (amp) is essentially a hot-rodded Marshall (and a noisy one at that, or so I've heard), so if that's the sound you're after, go for it. I personally use my BSIAB II for all things 'hot Marshall' and Dr. Boogey for the remaining top of the hi-gain realm.
