Got any mods for an Arion SPE-1 parametric eq?...or possibly the schematic?

I nabbed one of these off ebay for 25 americos and its a bit lame sounding.  I used to have a really old Ibanez PQ-something-or-other and it was very cool running before a distortion, but they were fetching such good prices I had to sell it with hopes of maybe building one. 

I peeked under the hood of the SPE-1 and theres a lot more in there that I was expecting.   I thought it would look about like a wah in there or something, so some assistance might be cool, how should I go about this? 

The schematic would be nice, but Arion schematics on the internet seem to be a rarity which is surprising as common as these pedals once were, and since most of them are no longer in production.
