My first attempt at a perfboard layout(Rangemaster), no laughing please.

I've got a Ge transistor ordered from Aron's store and plan to build a Rangmaster.  So I put this together last night.  This the first time I've tried this and I didn't know where to start so I just put my transistor socket right in the middle and started adding stuff.  I might mount the output cap somewhere in that big empty corner.  Yep, I was looking at Fuzz Central's Rangeblaster page, if you can't tell.

What do you think about using the trimpots?  I thought this would be good for trying different transistors and to get it sounding right to start with.  Any suggestions?

Good one, trimpots make it easy to move the bias points, somewhere I have a board alot like that, trimpots for many of the resistors. the GEO Article 'technology of the Austin treble Blaster', goes into great RM detail.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Well I got her done so to speak, cool pedal, lots of fun to play thru.  I've tried it with just the amp and that is very good, it also sounds good driving a ts808 clone for a nice high frequency boost(sort of like a wah but more mellow), you just don't want to crank the boost up too much or it gets to sounding crappy.

I read that GEO article many times, as far as I'm concerned I never could have built it right without it.  I ended up using the transistor switched around backwards which gave me about 110 hfe on my meter.  Anyhow I'm pretty happy with this one, it currently has a home on my board.  It's the white one on the end in my thumbnail pic.
