Bipolar PS from one battery, and the bugcrusher..

Hey all,

I was wondering if anyone had any luck with this first circuit and the bugcrusher. I've tested the circuit alone. From one pole to the other my multimeter reads abour 16v. Individual poles to ground both read about 8 and -8, so I can only conclude that this part works.

The bugcrusher tiself works fine if I use two batteries. Apart from stomp popping and  some background noise I'm trying to get rid of, it works as it should. I use no significant mods so it doesn't deviate from this schematic.

When I put both together, I only get hiss and ugly artifacts. I sort of get sample-and-hold behavior if I turn the crushing up high, play a bit, then back down again, but it's not at all what it should be! On the charge pump circuit, I've tried it both with and without the 6:1 freq boost.

Any ideas?
