footswitch help

Hi everyone.  I just got an Aguilar AG500 SC bass amp head, and it takes a one-button footswitch for muting.  I was wondering if anyone knows what kind of switch (DPDT, etc.) it uses, and better yet, how it's wired.  I tried my Ampeg 2-button FS with no luck.  I also didn't have any luck searching the forum.  I've made around a dozen stompboxes with 3PDTs and hammond style enclosures.  I know Aguilar sells a FS, but $100; please...

take a regular mono cable plugged into the footswitch hole, does a wire shorting the mono plug mute it? if so its just a spst...

Just email Aguilar and ask them to send you a schematic of a FS that would work.

Tell them  you want to build your own, like into another pedal or pedalboard.

This info also might be in the owners manual.

I tried shorting a mono cable.  It turns the "operate" LED on and off, but no sound (shorted or not) when I plug the bass into it.  This is the same thing the stereo cord and Ampeg 2-button footswitch did.   I sent Aguilar an email last night.  It was a little awkward, since they produce said item commercially, but I did just buy an amp and cab, so maybe they would be willing to throw in a little FS info.   The owner's manual is, um, sparse to say the least.  Nothing about FS in it.  Any other ideas?  Thanks for the input..
