bit of a boost at end of volume knob...

alright so i wired up doug deeper's garagefuzzz and changed around a bit and added some new features but i'm really curious about the volume control...i have it wired as the schematic says, with a 1M pot wired as a variable resistor, but i get smooth volume control then a little boost right at the end of my turn...it's a linear pot and doesn't sound exactly like an audio taper, it's really sharp and only on the way way end of the turn.  almost like it turns on...i've had this happen before with other pots and usually it's because the value was too big, but it sounds really really good right at the end there.
any ideas?

It may be a funky pot issue. Pots are sketchy some times and not so well made with respect to linearity.
Try another of the same value and see what you get.

At the end of the posts travel the wiper goes from the carbon strip to the actual lug connection inside. SOme even have a break between the  resistive strip and the lug. (special made though)   Maybe there is a little too much resistance right before the lug connection and then once it hits the lug there is no resistance so the vlume shoots up...?

yeah, i think this is what it might be...that's pretty much the sound i'm getting.

You may be able to watch the resistance 'jump' using the DMM across the [probably SP] pot lugs to measure R as the shaft is moved across a 'rough' spot in it's range.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
