Hi  I have a few old speakers and I am wondering if there are any inexpensive little amps I can build. I want something that can be pretty loud  and then quiet when I have to be ;). I am wondering if anyone here has anything I might want to build, I have a fender minitone master and dint want to build something thats not going to be very different than it. I also want something thats going to react well with multiple pedals as the tonemaster cannot handle more that one or two with out sounding muddy and crappy like. How ever the tonemaster sounds good for clean bluesy type stuff. I mostly play SRV and things around that line of music. Thanks you so very much!!!

You're going to find that the speaker is more important than the amp per se when it comes to little amps.  In any case, a place to start is at runoffgroove.com, with the Little Gem or the Ruby.  The Noisy Cricket (beavisaudio.com) is another option.

I believe you could like what the guy at sopht amps did...Go see his site!  :icon_wink:

Tube or Solid State?

Um I think solid state for now later on I will mess with tubes :o I know I know tubes are better.

for inexpensive/little, id go for the Ruby with the bassman mods

i run mine thru an old 10" alnico spkr...   sounds great
even better with the runoff groove Supreaux in front of it

i've been lookin at the sopht amp...  looks like i found my next project

a bit more expensive, but Dougs "firefly" is another great sounding small amp

Hey that sound really cool !!!! To bad  I cannot read those type of schems yet. Do you have one thats easy to read??  thanks for all the heal so far

Sounds like you need a layout.  I would stick with a Ruby/Little gem.  They're perfect for playing along with the radio or the TV.
The littleGem was my first project before I could read schematics.

Hey  I think I am going to build a ruby my question is will it be like a minitone master or will I be able to get a lot more volume with this thing? The tone master has one watt which is cool to mess with clean tones but doesn't work well with many pedals. I made a Octavia and it sounds like a piece of crap with it  but with my brothers hellhound it sounds so frigging good, alto like the zvex octane 3. ;D

I regularly drive a Ruby with a Tubescreamer and a Big Muff.  Both sound pretty decent.

I'm using an old 3" speaker from an old radio and it's not overpowering, but it should be plenty loud with the right speaker/cab.

The LM386 sounds great in the Noisy Cricket configuration also: www.beavisaudio.com.

if you mean a layout, no.

The sounds clips I posted were recorded using a Laney LC30 12" HH speaker.

i haven'[t built a little ss amp since high school!
Those sound clips sounded pretty nice!
I think you guys just put another monkey on my back, as now I just have to build a couple of these.
If anything, I could keep it as a backup at gigs.....even though I usually bring at least two real amps to shows.
