Hi all,

Thought i would add this to the forum incase anyone is searching around for this information. I've received alot of helpful information in past from this forum and just help in general and would like to attempt at contributing.

I found a good spot for an LFO that stays on permanently (turns off when the pedal is disengaged).  I also found an excellent 'feedback' led.   It shows you the level of the effect, and also shows you if you are in up or down mode.  Instead of describing all this to you, my i be so bold as to direct you to this youtube video 'build report' i made of the FSH1.  The description of how to wire up the LED's starts at 6 mins approx:

Hope it's of use!
Paul.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for posting the video build report, it looks and sounds great.  I tried building an FSH-1 on vero and have not yet been able to get it up and running but your video makes me really want to get it out again and try to make it work.  Did you have any issues with the tonepad board? I really like the Feedback LED idea a lot, haven't seen that before. If I ever get my working to the point where I could use that I will definitely check your wiring guide again.

thanks!

Hi gginther,

I had a few problems when I first built the FSH.  The first ones solder bridges, which is typical for my sloppy soldering :D

The next problem was getting the lfo to actually fluctate.  It seems that some combinations of jfets and the noise transistor dont work very well, for me anyway.  I think i ended up using j201's and a 2n5088.  The combination tonepad mentions just would not work no matter what i did.  You can view the post that i made about the problem i had, and the procedure i used suggested by Liquids to test for the fluctuating LFO voltage, that was invaluable to me in getting this thing working.  If the LFO aint fluctuating, the FSH is not going to work:  http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=69381.20

The 3rd and final problem (after it was actually working), was that i could smell something reminenscent of flaming electronics.  The max1044 burnt out. I burnt my finger on it, it was so hot.  Not sure how i managed to achieve that, but since i replaced it with an LT1054, i havent had that problem.

Good luck Gray, hope you get it working!  Its great little effect.

thanks for the link Paul, that will be very helpful info!  Looks like this will be a more intensive project than I had thought.  :icon_eek:  Post some more vids of your build if you have a chance, it keeps me motivated.  :icon_biggrin:

Hey thanks guys!  Been watching your videos as well.  Deadastronaut...i gotta build me an echo base :-) that things sound freaking awesome!

I plan to do a multi fx video with the FSH and some other pedals, see what crazy sounds i can get out of it.  Hopefully get some time this weekend.
