Yes, I've discovered yet another book about building effects pedals that I've not seen on here before but I stand to be corrected.

"Electronic Projects for Guitar" by the dude R A Penfold, just for a change, and it's not published by Babani.  It's by PC publishing, ISBN 1 870775 31 7. 16 projects with explanations of how the circuits work, HUGE stripboard layouts and in some instances photos of how it will look when built. the introductory chapter gives details on components etc. and is very informative. The projects go right from a treble booster to a double tracker and a phaser.

There`s a coincidence. Just this very day I picked up the same book from the Library. There`s an interesting looking "Dynamic tremolo" project in it.

I think my library used to have that one.  Luckily, I photocopied what I wanted before they sold off virtually their entire electronics section...I've never recovered (some other nerd beat me to the sale and got the best books).

I got a copy a few years later that I got the Electronic Projects for Musicians  by Craig Anderton. It helped me a lot to complement the things I learned in EPFM, because it has projects not covered in EPFM and eleven years ago when I was a newbie they were very useful, believe me.

I`ve had a similar experience. My library regularly has sales. There was a particular Babani book about making your own PCBs that I wanted. Oh well, the early nerd gets the....can`t think of anything clever to put in here.

I got a copy of this book used from Amazon, and it was an old library book. There are a couple of interesting projects in there. If I recall there is also a dynamic treble booster.

Has anyone built the expander based on the NE570N/NE571N? Does anyone know where to get one of these chips in the UK? I have seen another project that required one of these chips that looked interesting but couln't find anyone that still stocked them.

Yes, I built an expander, a compressor and a remote volume control with this chip more then ten years ago when I was a newbie. It is a classic so try to built something with it. You still can find it at Banzai Effects in Germany.

As far as I know, that's the only place you're going to get them (I should think it's obsolete technology).
