adding an expression pedal

ok so i've read rg keen's exp pedal.webarchive and i've searched the forum a bit, yet i'm still having a little trouble adding an expression pedal to a feedback looper.
the pedal is working perfectly except for the exp pedal part.  ok.  while writing this i may have found the answer, but i'll still ask...does the stereo jack need to have 4 or 6 lugs, as opposed to 3?  i was trying with a NC 3-lug stereo jack and couldn't figure out how to pass the signal correctly.

How many nodes are inside your Exp pedal and how many in the circuit box?, count them up, figure how many can be 'shared' [like grounds], and that's how many connections you'll need.
I've not seen 6 lug stereo jacks, my guess is that you have a 3 lug pot wiring[1 is ground 2 are signal path], which can be done with stereo jacks and cable [...all have 3 connectors], assign the sleeve to ground with shield wire, use the other two shield-ed wires for the SP.

well, the main issue here is that it's for someone else and i don't know which expression pedal they were going to use...i guess i should take care of that myself?  anyways, the other issue was switching the feedback pot out when the exp pedal is plugged in, although i'm beginning to care less about that now.  i'll just simplify.   thanks

well i modified the exp pedal to work correctly.  i put a stereo jack in the exp pedal and a stereo jack in the box.  now, i put the feedback knob center lug (which went from return>send) to the tip of the jack in fx box which is sent to the tip in the exp jack.  that goes to lug 3 on the exp pot which goes to the center lug via resistance.  that goes to the exp jack ring, which is sent to the box jack ring, which goes to send.  i also tried using grounds (no signal at all), tried switching around the ring, tip, etc - didn't work.  argggggh!   :icon_cry:  i just want the exp pedal to be in series with the pot and when i pull out the exp pedal jack, i want the fb pot to still work!  like a fine tune knob...this shouldn't be this hard.  do i need to use a switch?  help meeeeeeee please

wonder what it looks like in schematic form,

ok here's a really ghetto layout of just my pot connection with the jacks... (those 2 pot-looking characters on top are the stereo jacks.  tip/ring are being used)

ok pretty sure i realized the folly of my ways...i went to the local ratshack and found some proper 1/8" stereo closed circuit jacks.  i was using MONO closed ciruit jacks... :icon_redface: i'm so used to seeing three lugs on a stereo jack, i didn't even think twice.
