Hello,

I want to put in the same box a Fuzz Face (Ge version), a Mosrite Fuzzrite (Ge version) and a Jordan Bosstone.
Having a "momentary lapse of reason "  (and attention) i built the Ge version of Jordan Bosstone posted by mac (thx a lot!) here: (http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=56703.0.
It sounds very good even, for my taste, it has a little lack of mojo () as against the Si version (in which I like to have the Q1's hFE around 200-250 and Q2's hFE around 300).

That's not a problem anyway because i liked it, but, when i solder the battery wires, i realized that it had negative ground too...in my stupid mind Ge=positive ground!!!

So, my question is: how can i build a Jordan Bosstone with positive ground? What changes i must to do in the Si version?

Thx a lot all!

John Lyons

The usual things:
Reverse all polarzed caps, batery and use the opposite transistors.
Use PNP where there are NPN and NPN where there are PNP.
Either that or use a charge pump set up as a bipolar supply and only use the positive connection for the bosstone.

Thx a lot John Lyons!
I thought at the the solution that you wrote, but it seems too easy (http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/schematics/bosstoneschem.gif): no polarized caps, only a pair of diodes (no need to reverse)...only the 2 trannies and the battery :)

On the other hand, i can't use a bipolar power supply, i think, because after the 3 effects i will have a booster (an Apollo Bass/Treble Booster i think...) which have positive ground too.

Just use the charge pump for the booster as well.
You aren't using the bipolar supply really, just the neg part of that supply.
The Positive part of the supply is not connected to the circuit.

I did it and it works ok...only i swapped the transistors from the Ge version!

Using the same bipolar power supply, half for a negative ground Bosstone and the other half for a positive Apollo Bass and Treble Booster, and cascading the effects (Bosstone->Apollo) i think it will made a short.
Am I right?
