Hi,
I just joined up and I have been trying to find the answers to my question.
I have been told there is a mod you can do to any boss pedal to keep in on and then you can change to true bypass switching.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Is it possible with Ibanez pedals also?
Much thanks

Hi,

  Good move, welcome !
I have been told there is a mod you can do to any boss pedal to keep in on and then you can change to true bypass switching.
IIRC [and don't count on it] it was a simple matter of shorting the switch..
THen putting a TB wiring on it, finding space for the switch etc. tricky IIRC.
Does anyone know how to do this?
Nope, but every time it comes up I feel compelled to suggest a looper box.
Is it possible with Ibanez pedals also?
It is similar at the very least, both use Jfets [again IIRC, haven't checked out every Iba/Boss...]
Looper box has many advantages [IMO] over TB-ing a group of buffered pedals.
Much thanks

Convention creates following, following creates convention.

1) There is NO NEED to true-bypass any FET-switched commercial pedal unless you face certain specific circumstances, such as: a) you ONLY use batteries and never use a wallwart, or b) you almost always have at least 8-10 pedals in series on your pedalboard.

2) If you are not especially skilled at such matters, the safe thing may simply be to turn the thing on, step on the switch and leave it on that way.

3) If your intent is to have more than one pedal on and switch them in clusters via a loop selector, then you can SAFELY simply bridge the drain and source pins of the relevent switching FETs with a piece of wire.

The reason I need to do this Is because I am putting these in a Pete Cornish style board. Is there another style of switching that is easier to change to maybe then true bypass? (the same electro harmonix style though...i hope that made sense)
