It looks like the whole module/PCB was dipped in the same material as an old ceramic cap? Then it was silkscreen numbered probably for easy assembly? You can sort of see the Transistors "bulging" out of the back side.
pretty cool!

That coating was quite common in late 60's/early 70's - it was used in the military to seal sensitive ccts into modules. A fair bit of RF kit used it, and it was superceded by epoxy potting.

These companies out of central california, did this in the 60's/70's. Rosac and Mosrite to name two.

Is this sealing material still available and diy-able?

You also see such modules on some of the keyboards of the era.  The material it is potted with is the same stuff that they use on ceramic capacitors.

shows the Rosac version, pretty much the same.  I think that Mosrite, then Rosac (who was started by an ex-Mosrite designer) got to where they decided to just put an order in for the module and save on construction costs.

A lot of high-end (ie expensive) audio kit is still made that way. Preamp modules and such.

Actually, more than the goop I was surprised by the manufacturer. I'm wondering if we have a rebranded Fuzzrite here in fact...? Which would make a possible 3 different versions of the Foxey Lady, rather than 2... Or maybe the 2 knob version was never EH after all? Hmmmm...

Heh, kind of confusing:

First Mosrite then 2 different 2 transistor versions. I wonder if the Aul one has been traced.
