Wahs, pots and ranges?

I tweaked my wah a long while back (standard 100k pot), and hadn't really been using it much.  Now I'm back on it... While the usable range sounds really good, it's all bunched up in the first 10% of the treadle sweep.  If I am careful and use miniscule movements, I can really get that baby singing.  I'd like to spread it out more, using the full treadle travel, if possible.  Doesn't this suggest that maybe i need to 'convert' that pot to something more like 50k or even 25k?

Anyone have any pot tuning suggestions?  I know there are a few wah gurus around.   I'm betting I need some sort of tapering resistors, but don't know where they should go/what values.  (Across hot and cold lugs, leaving wiper out of it, etc?)
Thanks!

You could use a 250k pot and play around with this:

I haven't tried it with wah pedals, I don't know if it would do you a lot of good, but it is a thought.

Try temporarily soldering a trim pot across the outside lugs of your wah pot.
100K should do. This will let you try small resistances.
The taper will be affected but you can at least see what a good total resistance is.
You can always taper the resistance as well with a resistor from the wiper to ground (log) or from the wiper to hot (rev log)
See RG's secret life of pots at GEO for the details on tapering.
A lot of the "feel" has to do with which circuit your are working with , which wah shell you are using and how you have the wah pot tuned in mechanically. Sometimes you need to rotate the pot shaft in order to get the best sweep and so it will not under or overshoot the sweet spot.

Thanks guys, that's what I thought.  It does seem like I have a good sound, but in a very tight range, which tells me I probably need to decrease the total resistance.   I have my 'most treble' that I like right up by the switch, and it goes to bass very quickly when moving back...a 100k across the pot to trim it in & find the right range is a good idea :o)
