Hi all,

After lurking for a while I've completed a build worth showing. I've a fair amount of previous electronics knowledge, though not in audio so much. Amazing how one's spares box already contains everything needed to explore new territory!

The below is essentially a single-5088 distortion circuit with clipping diodes a la Joe's EasyDrive, with a modified BMP-style tonestack behind it. The switch brings in the awesome Hysteresis Oscillator Matthew Helm (choklitlove) dug up. That should ideally be a second stomp switch. I've tuned it to allow the speed to be varied from a fast cutting tremalo to oscillating madness. You can tune the HO to a given note for a drone/pedal note perfectly gated to the guitar. It's housed in a 1590 covered with NOS vinyl covering (Fablon). I'm really happy with this covering technique! I'm experimenting with other covering-based finishing techniques but this is the best so far - adhesion to bare aluminium is great and you can get the corners very neat if you're patient.

Am loving pedal building. I've also breadboarded or built the sili FF, Crash Sync, various filters/VCFs, the Shin-Ei FY-2, Smash Drive and some Uglyface/general 386+555 frolics. Next up is something dirty, evil and based on the classic combo of 4017+555.

I'm indebted to many of you for this wonderful resource and knowledgebase.

Bestest,
Iain

ps - Yes, the box is "upside down" but I like the screws :D

Clapton mentioned covering his first Gibson hollowbody in black Fablon and I never knew what he was referring to until now.  Needless to say he regretted it.

Nice, looks a lot better than my first build, actually it looks better than any of my builds.

@ slacker: Thanks! I like your work, I've read a fair few of your posts :)

@ Shepherd - I'd be gutted too if I covered a Gibson in Fablon :o I remember my mum using it on folders and shelves when I was little. I'd love to find more NOS Fablon, there were some fantastically kitsch patterns.
