Hello, I did a search about the Variacs but could not find the answer.... In an effort to reduce the volume while practicing in my house, I would like to use a Variac on my Fender Performer 650. Now I read about rebiasing tubes to make them work properly on lower voltages, the thing is I have a clean channel that is solid state and a distortion channel that is tube, what would the Variac do to the solid state clean channel? I plan on using it moderatly, only to give me a reduced output level but keep the tone. Ive read about the blown amps and all, Im just curious to know what a reduced voltage do to the solid state channel.

Sorry if Im posting in the wrong area, this seemed like the best choice.
thanks
