I got a few OA47 diodes in my stock. I know they are germanium and was wondering if these would be good replacement for the clipping section in my TS9? Was wondering if there are any projects ou there that use these diodes too? They've been in my box for a while now and have never found a use for them....

Paul Perry (Frostwave)

Here's someone who thinks they are a bit special, but he's not clipping - he's finding that these "gold bonded" Ge diodes have a very low foward voltage & are ideal in crystal sets (or, for us, as detectors in envelope followers, maybe!)

If you have leaky GE transistors, try them as clipping diodes first, you might want to stick to the OA's for specific applications, like paul said
